Chak De...............Preeti Sabharwal!!!!!!!!!

So here I am with my latest blog and that's about none other than the latest SRK flick!.... Chak De India. It was after quite a while that I was watching a commercial Hindi "masala" movie, for the reason that I watched the Benglish (Bengali + English) Namesake, the pathetic Johny Depp-less Pirates of the Carribean and the very catchy Die Hard 4.0, all on the trot. I was never a follower of what the critics had to say about a movie, but I always believed in my trusted lieutenants before watching any. So I wasn't gung ho about watching this either until I got the right feedback. And I had reasons galore to catch it as well. The frequent movement of my fingers over the keyboard had taken a toll on me and I was desperate for taking a break. But hey! hold on.......a movie for a much needed break???????? Well this is more than enough for IT czars like me. Hasn't someone rightly said...........'Beggars can never be choosers!'.

So here I am, all set for the movie....tickets booked a day in advance, got up and ready in time for the show, the cook had come early. But there was one thing I was really skeptical about. For the first time ever I was catching up on a morning show and that too at 10:10 in the morning. But I just thought to myself....would it be possible for me to catch on to this show if I wouldn't have worked in the timings that I am working in! Anyways I made my way towards PVR Forum and if it wouldn't have been for the Bangalore's traffic woes, I would have surely made it in time. Alas! I was there and once I had collected my tickets, I rushed towards Audi 7, the screen showing the movie. In the midst of all this, I kept thinking as to how many fools would line up to see the first show in the morning, let alone I too were one of them. But hey! I was surely mistaken.......there were people all around. They were there in hundreds of them. And majority of them were lining up for the same movie which I was gonna be watching! And I could see at least hundreds of them flocking behind me!!! As I queued up, I could see all sorts of janta, from the Uncles & Aunties who would look like any office goer, to the college goers, from the newly wed to the usual cupid struck couples asking for their share if freedom. Finally, after about five minutes of waiting, I was inside the theater.

As I sat, watching SRK being rendered a traitor, albeit in the movie, I could see the girls going gaga about him in his new look with a stubble and neatly done hair. It was beyond my understanding as to what made them think that he was looking hot, sexy, saucy..... in this new avtaar. But he was surely looking different for the good. I have never been a fan of SRK's movies except for Swades which I liked for its off-beat storyline. And hope this one too would be similar even though it carried a Yashraj tag! As the movie rolled on, I could see the crowd especially the fairer sex getting louder. And all of a sudden, there was complete silence. But this welcome silence was a short lived one. Soon the boys started shouting the and I could sense why? After all, the members of the Indian women hockey team had started coming up on the screens! And the biggest of them all........Sagarika Ghatge a ka Preeti Sabharwal made her presence felt immediately. She along with Gul definitely has a screen presence, unlike their team mates. The movie toiled through the rigors of coaching, dribbling and that too on a grass pitch and not on the Astro turf. Wonder, these girls are playing the Dhaynchandesque hockey! As the movie moved towards the intermission, I could see SRK sitting with his team in Big Mac looking clumsy in the Ray Ban sunglasses meant for our air warriors! Shouldn't the director point out the flaw which perhaps everybody can make out while watching the movie?

The second half begins with the team breathing a fresh lease of life under their coach, to flying out to Melbourne for their World Cup. Atleast here I could see the team playing on a genuine hockey turf! As is the case with all the movies, the start to the most important part of the movie is shown depressing with the team losing its first match. But its not long before they find their winning ways. And like a typical masala movie the movie ends with the team emerging victorious. And with it came the end of my much wanted break. As I walked back towards my office with my Oracle billa ( jargon for I-cards ) in place I though about the best moment of the film. It had to be Preeti Sabharwal. She definitely rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!
